Bowling Green is a city in Warren County, Kentucky. The current estimated population is 60,600. European settlers first established what is now Bowling Green as McFadden’s Station in 1778. The settlement grew and was incorporated as the city of Bowling Green in 1798. The city is said to have been named after either a town in New York or Virginia. Western Kentucky University was established in 1906 and has grown to become the second largest public university in the state and the largest employer in Bowling Green.
