There are two top ranked private universities in Missouri: Washington University in St. Louis and Saint Louis University, as well as many colleges in the University of Missouri system. Missouri is famously known as the home of Mark Twain who set his novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in his hometown. Other famous natives include Tina Turner, Tennessee Williams, Chuck Berry and T.S. Eliot among others. The Ozark Mountains, specifically the city of Branson, is a popular vacation spot for residents and visitors.
