The crime rate for the state of Ohio is about the same as the national average. The chance of becoming a victim of violent crime is 1 in 334 and of property crime is 1 in 32. The larger Ohio cities tend to have higher crime rates although some smaller cities in the state also have higher crime rates. The three most dangerous cities in the state are Linndale, Clinton and Cleveland. Property crimes such as burglary, theft and vandalism occur at much higher rates than violent crimes. Ohioans can protect their properties from these crimes by installing surveillance systems. Many schools, museums and shopping centers already use high tech surveillance systems to protect their property, employees and visitors. There are also many surveillance systems that work perfectly for private residences and offices. Properties with surveillance systems experience less crime than those without. If each resident of Ohio installed surveillance systems on their property, the state could become one of the safest in the nation.
