Sioux City is a city in Woodbury County, Iowa. French Canadian fur trappers were the first white settlers in the region beginning in the 19th century. In 1849 Theophile Bruguier established a farm on the land that is now Sioux City. The town was established by surveyors in 1854 and was incorporated as a city in 1857.
